ABOUT
ABOUT ME
I grew up in Parker, Colorado and love to be outdoors enjoying the Colorado sun. Some of my hobbies include running, ballroom dancing, swimming, spending time with my family, and most of all, making beautiful music! In December 2022, I graduated with my degree in Music Education (K-12) from Brigham Young University (BYU). In my studies, I chose to focus on teaching Elementary school age children. I was also trained in classical voice by Michele Scott, vocal professor at BYU.
WHAT I'VE DONE
I have been playing the piano since I was 4 years old, and have 14 years of lessons behind me. During this time, I reached an advanced level and played a variety of music from classical to popular repertoire. I started vocal lessons when I was 12 and have since completed 10 years of coaching, including from a BYU vocal professor. I have taught both vocal and piano lessons privately for about 9 years. I also have experience teaching music in Elementary and Secondary schools and have a current teaching certificate as well as a fingerprinting clearance.
WHAT I DO
I teach private piano and voice lessons to students aged 4-90. Whether or not they want to make it a career or simply do it for fun, I inspire students to accomplish goals and love music as I do. Most importantly, I am certified to teach any age K-12 and have copious experience teaching and performing music professionally.

PHILOSOPHIES
TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

1. Respect- First and foremost I strive to create an atmosphere of respect in my teaching. Building good relationships with my students is of utmost importance and can provide a strong foundation upon which to build the ideal teaching environment. I believe that I can learn as much from my students as they can learn from me.
2. Preparation- The preparation of both teacher and student for a lesson is paramount. The most successful teaching moments occur when time, effort, and thought have been put into the learning process. I expect my students to work hard, but only as I work hard to meet their needs as a teacher.
3. Perseverance- Diligent effort is an important stepping stone on the road to success. I encourage my students to work hard even, or perhaps especially, on the days when motivation is running low. That said, I fully believe in taking well-earned breaks and recovery days. I strive to cultivate a balanced growth mindset in my students.
4. Celebrating Success- I believe in celebrating the true success of the student. Positive reinforcement is vital in the development of difficult techniques and skills, especially in a musical context. Negative self-talk is never allowed, although celebration is only permitted when the student has put forth the work and effort to accomplish significant improvement.

ASSESSMENT PHILOSOPHY

I prepare my students for performance, whether it be in formal settings (a competition or recital) or informal settings (in church or at family gatherings). While we aim in practice for perfection, the reality is that no performance is perfect. Consequently, I assess my students on progress. The process of becoming a musician is much more important than the skill demonstrated in a single performance. I strive to nurture a growth mentality among my students.
